Many thanks to Mike Williams and Christopher James Huff for
much-needed help with isosurfaces.

Some friends of ours are in a band, with a recording contract,
and they asked me If I could do the cover for their next CD.
I was very flattered and couldn't really refuse. Anyway here's
what I've got so far. No AA yet, nor radiosity, modelling I
reckon is about 1/2 way complete. 7 days work, currently
renders in about 3.5 hours at 1024x1024 (old P3 machine).

To Do:
Snow cover.
Snow landscape in fg. fades to white in bg.
pegs etc on guitar head.
low weedy shrubbery on and around the tracks.

I have to keep in mind their deadlines so I can't attempt
anything too ambitious.

I suppose I should do the same when people are helping me.. (sigh) I'm so
lazy at times :)

CD cover?
Hmmm what DPI are you looking at I think it's 300dpi the cover size is
something like 5.2"x 5.2" or 5.3" something hehe.

Your resolution needs to be for 'final' copy from 1500 to 3000 (300 to 600
DPI) 300 is on the low end. Ouch. POV is not the greatest for speed :(

hmm, I'd kind of assumed it was a perfect square, I'd better check that.

yes, I've yet to find out what dpi their printers are, let's hope it's
not 1600. I'm reserving 2 weeks for 2 attempts at final renders,
after radiosity and AA are thrown in. Thank god that it's not a vinyl
album cover :-), anyway I've got until the end of April.

btw the pic i posted was resized to 512x512 from that last 1024x1024
render.
