I've found out what I was doing wrong previously with the colours of the sss
objects. What was happening was that I hadn't noticed that the macro
requires the target object to be centred at the origin. In the previous
version of the image over 100% of the trace() operations were missing the
eyeballs and lips objects. I now translate the objects to the origin,
perform the sss, then translated them back. Due to the irregular shape of
the objects about 97% of the trace() operations performed by the macro still
miss the object, so I added a tweak to my copy of the macro to omit the tens
of thousands of blob components that are centred at the origin.

This is really looking good so far. I hope you keep posting your
improvements to the model, because I'm looking forward to seeing how it
turns out.
