See down:

8/3 is different of 5/2... ;-)

Slope concave before Slope convex... and we win a square...

Mathematically:

Forms are into a rectangle 13x5
Empty area on the top of this rectangle is done by:

In the first case:
-a rectangle 8x2, a triangle (8x3)/2, a triangle (5x2)/2
OR : 16+12+5=33

In the second case:
- a rectangle 5x3, a triangle (8x3)/2, a triangle (5x2)/2
OR : 15+12+5=32

The difference is the little square.

Very nice (old) enigm.

And good picture.

Hey! That's a good one. I haven't seen that before. It's just too bad
that 2/5 != 3/8.  Otherwise we would have a problem. :)  I won't say any
more and spoil it for everyone else (if I haven't already said too much).

Very nice! I'll show this to my Calculus students Wednesday. See how
many can figure it out.

I guess most of you realised the answer eventualy. I admit it took me
a while when I first saw it.

I could have taken more care with my "quick 'n dirty" rounded triangle
macro - they are oversized, but I hope it didn't spoil the illusion.

Thanks for all the responses, and I hope no-one lost any sleep over
the weekend ;)
