Hi everybody.

I have started to write a new editor for povray under Linux. It's based
on the povwin interface but includes many more features

It requires QT 3.2 and X11 and it's not finish, so you can send me
features requests

the project homepage : http://qtpoveditor.sf.net

Thanks

Thierry

You know this posting would fit better into povray.unix. You will also
find several similar projects there like Pyvon:

As always i say 'add all features emacs has and i will most likely
switch' ;-)

You can find some discussion about features in thread:

Do you happen to use pov-mode with a recent version of emacs ( a 21)?
I tried and it barfed...

Most of tube time is in emacs, so with a pov-mode I could slip in some
povving :)

I use XEmacs 21.1 and 21.4, both work well with pov-mode.

Looks promising!
Right now I use pyvon+POVFront, which works decent.
You might want to get some ideas from POVFront, I'd like a quick way to
select resolution, from a list you can specify yourself. And perhaps a text
area where you see the command line options you have specified? And if
possible, an way to tell how much cpu power povray should get, speeds up
rendering quit a bit.
I'll se if I can try it out someday.
Keep it up, I've always wanted an alternative to pyvon. (I guess I should
give emacs another try too).

PS: The desktop background on your screenshots are a bit distracting.

I'll have to try it.
For a while I wanted to program pyvon using python and QT.
If you use C and QT, all the better -> it may be much faster when parsing
the syntax.

I have another job and I do not have any more time to continue the
development of pyvon or even to play with POV.

One piece of advice : do not pay too much attention to the people who
pointedly argue that there is no need of an interface for POV under Linux.
Emacs might be a great piece of software but it is the least user-friendly
interface that I know.
Windows has a specific POV inferface, Mac too, why not Linux.

One more thing, why did you not post this message to the unix directory ?

Bon courage
