I wanted to post the image I've been playing with.  You can see the
spiraling squares that I got help with in an earlier post (thanks again!)
The image is based on a movie called "The Cube" and its sequel "Hypercube."
Very strange movies.  I got inspired and I decided to make my own cube to
view.  The cube is 14 feet by 14 feet square.  The viewpoint is looking up
at the ceiling.  There are doors/portals on all six walls.  The far right
wall has an open door.  I guess it makes a little more sense if you've seen
the movies.

Those movies were quite disturbing.  Did you know that they only used three
walls for the entire movie?  Talk about your low budget set.  Anyway, nice
job, this spirals are great.

I'm a little confused at what I'm looking at, but I like it ;) Its the 
big white spirals that are throwin' me off I think. I can't quite tell 
if the walls look mirrored or transparent.

Oh and I didn't know that Cube had a sequel!!! I'm gonna have to try and 
find a copy of that. I liked cube quite a bit.

I really liked the special effects when the woman in Hypercube just left the
cube and got back in the regular normal world. The weird movements and
effects were nice.

They have just finished principle photography for the next "prequel" called
"Cube Zero" which should be out next summer.  They (Lion Gates pictures &
Ghost Logic productions) have been trying to get t.v. series about the cube
started as well.

The handles around the doors were too close and I ended up extended them out
a bit so they could be more easily grasped.  I intended the first post to
have that image but I put in the earlier one unintentionally.  Here is a
link to the "slightly more correct" version if anyone is interested.

The walls are white with the spirals in a bluish metal. It is the metal that
is reflecting the far walls and creating the effect.  The "transparent or
reflecting?" was just sort of a happy accident that I liked.

BTW, there are no lights used in the rendering of this image.  It was done
entirely through radiosity.  The white sections on the walls were given a
high ambient value to generate the light.

Impressive, very nice, I like these technical designs.  Never heard of that 
movie, looked it up in IMDB and it's a Canadian production?  Hmmm, I'm 
intrigued, going to look for it.

I never saw or even knew there was a Cube movie. I videotaped the Hypercube
from TV a few months ago, since the commercials looked interesting, and my
old VCR added some special effects of its own so I replaced it with a new
VCR/DVD combo Apex ADV-3800 (has a couple problems already). I liked the
spinning thing that changed with the peoples movements.

This spiral design is mesmerizing. Have you tried it with transparency
instead of reflection, or a combination of the two? Very disorienting view
too, being able to see four of the sides. Reminds me a little of the end of
the movie as it fell apart.

Hmmm, seems the more I think about it maybe I did see at least some part of
Cube. Colors were all red or orange and black? Don't know why I can't
remember it better if I had actually seen it. Maybe because I only saw
commercials for that one.

Oh, it needs the number 60959 (if I recall that correctly) scrawled
someplace. :-)
