Attempting to model a bicycle, figured I would start with the wheels.
Comments please.

The tires look a little "flat". Real bike tires should be more rounded,
actually being fatter for a while while they extend from the rims.

I suggest smaller rims and fatter tires. If it's "Tour de France" type of
bike, I suggest really small rims.

I hope that helps! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Looking good. Too bad the gray background along with aliasing made some of
the wires "fade" into the background.

I'm looking forward to see how it evolves.

The inside part looks goos, the tire needs more work. You need to add
volume to it, but I can't tell how. The tour de France passes down to my
place on sunday, I'll have a look and tell you. :-))

I made the tire fatter, re-positioned the spokes better, added the tire-vent
and applied a texture to the tire for the tire-thread. However, I am not
satisfied with the texture.
Any sugestions on how to create a better looking tire thread texture?

Use a radial pattern. Set frequency to get the number of treads you want.
Just a thought.

Cheers!

Not tested, just an idea: use a toroidal/spherical warp?

I think I am done with the wheels for the time being. I can select between
two different tire-threads right now, more might be implemented later.
Rendered on my old Pentium 200 system because I did not want to tie up my
laptop, took a little over 5 hours *grin*. Time to finnish building my new
computer. Soon!

Cheers,
Peter
