This is my first attempt to make something to enter in IRTC. Must be viewed
full-size to prevent distortion. I would appreciate your comments,
criticism, questions, suggestions.

I know it's really frightening, but you've got to make the decision to
post the image some time soon... ;)

That's actually very good. How have you done this? The green
hillocks are transparent to the left of the image - is this meant to
be the case?

Hey, there's some nudity.

Now, thinking again, perhaps that's only in my subconscious. :-)

Nice idea and nice execution. I can't wait to see it finished.

Steve,
Thank you. I made the scene entirely in Moray. The more complicated shapes
are mesh2, created with the Moray 3.5 mesh editor. The clouds are a
photograph I took with my digital camara just yesterday! The moon is a
sphere with an image map of the lunar surface that I found as a free
download at 3D Cafe.
About the appearance of transparency you refer to. I think it's actually
shadows. I'm going to try some adjustments of the lights to get rid of that.
I have already spent countless hours just tweaking the lighting and
textures, but there's still more to do. ;~^}>

Heh, isn't there always more to do... ? Yes, I can see the
shadows now, I think the alignment of your lights just need a slightly
different angle so that the shadows don't align-up too easily with the
next hill along. Your moon looks good, but don't forget that if it's
shining through clouds, then you'll need some kind of hazy glow around
it - you may need to use 'media' to get this effect, and you may need
to try some 'stacked-plane' clouds too.
