You might want to check out the coding that Gilles Tran used in his
makecloud demo scenes... he used media to depict trees in the distance, and
it looked quite nice: http://www.oyonale.com/histoire/english/index.htm

As far as using the same texture for close objects and distant objects, I am
not sure that would be the best approach. It might be easier to model the
closer trees with more detail, using something like xfrog or maketree or
Gena's tree macros (check out the other sections of the newsgroup, Gena
posted it somewhere in here).

_please_:
Do not use .bmp -- your posting had an _enormous_ size.
Try to keep it down to 50..100 kb, maybe 150 if needed.
Use jpeg.
And, especially when it's big: It's good style to include the size
of the posting in the subject.

oops.
Sorry, I'll convert them to jpeg next time.

Few gave any suggestions...what do you think?

It's still in the preliminaries. I'll post an up to date wide angle picture
in a few minutes when it finishes renderin.

Only Problem there is that the Ring in the first image is more than 100000
units across or about 100 Km.

That would be WAY too many little trees.

If there were any copyright issues, they'd be several thousand years
expired. ;) ...that is, unless Disney got another copyright law passed...
