This is my first attempt at designing something more complex that contains
more than a few simple CGS. I have hand coded the whole seen from
primitives (e.g.. the domes are made of cones+spheres). I am still not too
good at texturing the object.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty good for a first attempt !
And you're right, once you get to model things correctly you see that
texturing is yet another challenge. :-)

Funny, just yesterday I saw a BBC movie about it and I wondered how
much work it would be to build it in POV. You have a nice start there
:) The domes, need some work, the shape is not quite right. Consider
using a lathe or sor instead, with splines you can model the curvature
with great accuracy. Texturing will give you hell, that' clear, but
whoever said good things are easy? :)

Now, that's my kind of modelling: loads and loads of CSG :)
I'd like to see more details.
