A very nice flower, perhaps should you change the function used to generate
the hearth of the flower. The origin of the central petals should be a
little bit lower and perhaps could you use a little less turbulence toplace
them because w can se the origin of one of them on the hearth and that's
quite not realistic.
Have a good continuation.

How did you form the petals?
Here's a little inspiration:

Woohoo! That's my image you've linked to... It makes
me feel a little... Important. :-)
Anyways, as a further notice, it might be interesting to look
at the Project Review I've written for this image. It's at
http://www.digitaltwilight.de/no_lights/past_pros/gerbera/gerbera.html
It goes a little more in detail about the modelling, lighting with
radiosity and photons, memory etc.. Of special interest might be
the seeds and how they were positioned:
vrotate(<_Radius,0,0>,y*360/.618*A)*sqrt(A/_S)
Where _S is amount of Seeds and A is number of seed... It's
a nice even distribution, in this case on the y-plane in a circle
with a radius given by _Radius...

Very nice!
However, the petals seem a little "thick" to me, which makes the flower look
a little bit like it's metallic or plastic or something. I only get that
feeling with this up-close perspective, though.
I love the flower, though! I've been wanting to create some sort of flower
macro, but so far, I haven't gotten around to it.
