This concept was formed in my head half a year ago, but not until now
have I gotten it into image form.
Egg and sky rendered in POV-Ray, the rest is post processing.

Hey, that's awasome. But the sky disturbes the painting-like feeling with
its cgi look.

Hadn't realized that. How can I make the sky match more in style?
(Either from within POV-Ray, or using post-processing.)

Gilles Tran's new cloud macros look very good - perhaps these would work
better with the egg?

Hey, neat!

(I bet that cracked egg uses a turbulated crackle pattern... is "turbulated"
is even a valid word!)

Nice to hear from you again. Picked a nice image for a comeback! :-)

I think that the concept of the "Bigger World" would be better
represented by a finite space than by the sky. The entire world is far
to large an idea IMO to capture with a single image. A better approach
might be to place the egg in an apartment room, near a window, the view
from which is somewhat obscured by the objects outside. Even the
apartment would seem large compared to the egg, and the world would seem
as it is, open to exploration and perception, but not from one place.
If you don't like the idea of buildings, then a nook in a tree in the
middle of a vast forest surrounded by mountains the other side of which
await exploration, is another idea.

Oh, I've been here all the time lurking, just not being very active at
the moment... :)
And thanks!

I don't like the idea of buildings. However, I'll leave trees and plants
to masters such as Gilles and Nobert Kern. I don't want this image to
have a CG feel, so I don't want to do what I can't do well.
By having the camera pointed towards the sky, I wanted to hint the world
which can be seen from the point of view of the egg, without actually
showing it in the image. Certainly, the idea was not to make the egg
look like it is floating mid-air. I think a good way to strengthen the
concept would be to show some distant montains or hills in the horizon,
at the very bottom of the image. This I think I could do somewhat
convincingly with my skills (as opposed to foreground details), and it
also still leaves much to the imagination. I'll have a go at that...
Thanks for the feedback!
