Just a little picture I made using my LSSM. My
girlfriend saw a poster that looked like this, and
asked me to try to do it with my water-surface-
system. Mostly because it would be cheaper than
buying the poster... :-)

I'm thinking though, is it legal or illegal if I'd
put this up one Zazzle for all to buy? The image
of a waterdrop falling into a water-basin isn't
that new, still, I'm not so sure about photographic
rights and such. Anyone got a nice link to shed
some light into this mysterious subject?

Anyways, I'm not planning on telling that this
was my own idea, so I think that's enough credit.
Oh, the original is named "Serenity". Mine is
just "DripDrop" (because I took some liberty in adding
a final drop which gives a nice wave in the center,
and didn't want to copy the name as well).

From what I've seen of them, your macros are really impressive. I downloaded
them but I haven't still got around using them. Keep up the good work!

IMHO, if the reproduction of simple, common natural phenomena comes under
copyright law, we're really doomed. What next? People getting sued because
they used the blue colour? Of course, greedy idiots are aplenty so we cannot
be sure anymore :(
If you don't want to risk anything, just add something personal to the
picture that makes it different, which is always a good idea in the first
place.

You're right about that part with natural phenomena. Still, this image
really bears a very significant resemblance with the original Poster,
and that might be the problem, because I'd be copying intellectual
property or something like that. But I'm not planning on putting this
on Zazzle or anything, so I'm not really concerned. Additionally, I'm
giving credit to the original poster, so that leaves no room for speculation
if the image might be my idea.
I'd definitely add something personal if I'd want this to be sold or such,
though perhaps the jaggedness of the underlying mesh is good enough
for that! :-)

Yves Klein patented his famous blue color as 'International Klein Blue' (IKB).
So, as far as I understand if you want to use it you have to buy patent :)

2.1 would imply that I've had to redo some of
my work *again*. Its the artist at v2.0, not the
Software he's writing. And as an artist, I haven't
changed my style...

Well, this almost happened over here in Germany. Our main telecommunications
company (the "Deutsche Telekom") uses the color Magenta a lot
(advertisements, ...). They took some other companies (not only
telecommunication ones) to court which used the color Magenta in their
adveritsements...

Fortunately the Telekom lost the cases, but those examples show how far this
has gone already...
