Nice! Terragen does such gorgeous skies. <sigh> If only I could figure out
how to do that directly in POV instead of rendering the sky in Terragen and
then using that as a skysphere...

Good job of blending, I can't tell where the foreground stops & the
background begins! Is there water in the terragen image, or is the sandbar
in the background the edge of the POV scene?

Beautiful image, maybe you should explain a bit your technique
(I'd love to hear about it)

Looks like a final image. Congrats.

Those trees remind me of some of Dali's paintings.

Very cool!

It looks nice. For the sake of gathering knowledge: Does Terragen have any
abilities renderwise that POV-Ray can't do? I've been at their homepage, but
can't tell wether it's all a matter of adjusting parameters in POV.
Certainly POV-Ray is more versalite. It may not have the Terragen tricks to
speed up rendering, perhaps because the tricks only work in cases of
landscapes? Anything beyond that?

Regards,
Hugo

They remind me of the same. The whole picture looks a but surrealistic with
those rusting spheres in the water, strange trees, and a dark sky.

very good

If you're talking about how to include a terragen background in a POV-Ray
scene, here's one way to do it :

Terragen is specifically designed to render skies and landscapes. Things
that can be done in POV-Ray only using complex pigment maps and/or slow
atmospheric media is done automatically in Terragen by defining a few
parameters. In fact it's not easy and not even very fast, but the results
can be amazing. See this gallery in particular

It's a very easy picture

1. use a box-object with image_map (the terragen image. original image
here:
http://www.kirche-hohndorf.de/terragen/galerie/einzelbild_eng.php?gale=7&bil
d=6 )

             box{ <-100,-50,15>,<100,100,15.1>
                      pigment{ image_map{ jpeg "himmel.jpg" } scale 45
translate <23,-20,0>}
                   }

2. adding the water. It's a simple plane with normal statement

               plane {<0,1,0>,0
                            pigment{ color rgbf <.16,.13,.11,0>}
                            finish{ reflection .6 diffuse .5 brilliance 1.5
phong 5 }
                            normal{ bozo .3 scale <.45,.5,.4> turbulence 1}
                          }

3. Adding the objects (spheres, csg etc)
     The trees are created with Povtree 1.0 (export as mesh (lower
rendertime))
     The birds are created with JPatch 0.2 ( very simple birds)

That's all !!!

Bye Grosch
