Finally got my Internet back, so here's what came
of that flying lady I posted a week or two ago.
The soft glow surrounding her is achieved using my
Liquid-Surface-Simulation and generating waves as
if she is passing through a surface. Then use negative
transparency on hills of the waves. Tweaked till
convenient.
Then a box with scattering media, for the lightrays.
Spotlight behind her.
She doesn't reflect herself, that looked ugly.
I'll post this one on my homepage, probably tomorrow.
You'll then be able to download a 1280x960 version
from there. The mesh of the woman is too big, so I won't
be posting the code for it.
Oh, and a male version will be available on my website
too, but I'm not posting it here. Don't wanna fill the
newsgroups with too many too similiar images. :-)
Regards,
Tim

Oh, hm, I've forgotten the [Nudity] in the header. But I
don't expect that its that bad in this case, or is it? Does
a statue count as nudity? Or a metal sculpture?
That's not lifelike enough for nudity, is it?
Ah well, those are probably more philosophical and
variable moral ideas anyways. Don't bother to answer.
Its late... :-)

(You don't have to answer)

The male version will have pink background I presume?

Tim:
The illumination and surface glow look really, really great.

Thanks! Required a lot of work. The two meshes (background
glow and woman) take some time to load, and generating
the background takes some time as well (2 hours to be
precise). So tweaking the waves (not the color, the actual
wave-simulation) is pretty intensive.
Also, I've noticed that using more than 100% transparency will
also lighten up the light rays from a lightsource, which is
why the light gets so bright near her. Another nice side-effect
I had to keep in mind while working with the background texture.

Tim:
Are you using the conserve_energy flag in the finish? That should
reduce the amount of "lightening" of pigments when seen through
a transparent surface.

Well, it was intended in this case. Also, AFAIK conserve_energy
was supposed to take care of reflecting vs refracted rays. But
I'll take another look at the Documentation.

Well, it's definitely very bright. It would probably make a successful
Zazzle poster. Are you going to be starting anymore modeling intensive
V1.0 style pics?
