From povray.newusers:

The question was asked about adding a smoothly rounded base to a conical
flask.
To me, the problem seemed quite complicated. But after I drew it out, it
simplified itself quickly.

The colored diagram was generated with povray, and the the text and lines
were added in Photoshop.

The working .pov file is on p.b.scene-files under the same name. The
diagram changes as you change the parameters.

I'm just kind of lurking and perusing p.b.i so I'm not sure what you've
put together, but some time ago I wrote a macro to make rounded cones.

Probably the same thing as you did. The OP was complaining about being
unable to get a smooth transition to the rounded base, and I just showed
how to compute the the cone description so that it was tangent to the torus
providing the shoulder/
