hey guys
this is just a quick image i did this afternoon. it was quite nice to put
aside the long time projects and do this little one... there is still
something missing in the image, but i don't know what else to put there. Any
ideas?
BTW, does anybody else know this game? It's called Quarto. I don't think
it's that popular, but it's really nice to play *g*

maybe the wood textures can use some work, there is aliasing. composition is
good imo.
you can also add a glass of wine or something that fell down, the wine
covering a part of the floor/pieces. it gives more impression that
'something happened'.
btw, i don't know the game :-)

It needs something to add contrast. If the pieces had some
silver inlay or you added a lamp for a soft spot of brightness,
I think that would be a nice touch -- anything to draw the eye.
As for the game, sorry: I don't know about Quarto either. Cool
name, though. I'll have to look it up.

i just used the ones from woods.inc. i'm failing totally when it comes to
texturing ;-(

thanks

hmm, i like the idea of the glass of wine, but i think a fallen glass would
destroy the harmony. perhaps a standing one...

the rules are quite easy: it's a 2 player game. if it's your turn, the other
player gives you one of these pieces. there are 16 pieces at all and each of
them is unique, but there are several different characteristics which they
have in common: each of them is either tall or small, black or white, round
or square and has either a hole in the top or not. your target is to make up
a line of 4 pieces which share at least on of these characteristics (e.g.
all black). as you get your piece from the other player, he will try to
select one of the remaining, which will not allow you to build such a row
(and so win the game). after you have placed the piece on the field, you
have to give one to the other player, he places it and so on.
(hope it came clear *g*)
thanks for your comments,

well, the pieces are modelled from the one we got at home... i do like the
wooden look, it adds to the calm atmosphere. but the lamp is a nice idea.
perhaps i'll add a candle together with the glass of wine lenx suggested.

you can have a look at my answer to lenx, if you're interested in the rules.
