I've been having fun with Chlandi patterns,
which are the equations for vibrations
on plates. The most fun ones are those
for square plates with constrained centres,
given by

cos(n pi x / L)cos(m pi y / L) -
cos(m pi x / L)cos(n pi y / L)

The picture shows a straight forward uv_mapped
pigment function. An Iso using polar coordinates,
and the big sphere is a combination.

I've put a PNG up of the big sphere, its at...

I should also credit Paul Bourke. I got the idea from
his webpage at...

hey david

looks really cool. my favourite is the iso one. it's always nice to see some
mathematical/physical theory visualized in such a beautiful way. keep up the
good work!

greetings
florian
