The sky was made with terragen.

its looking real good, but the color of the water looks somewhat unnatural
for the scene. i've seen that color in south florida and the bahamas, but
never with that color sky, clouds, and lighting.

Like it very much!

Just a few remarks:
- the water looks a little bit too smooth (flat?) to me.
- Intersection between rocks and water looks to straight
- the clouds seem to be fixed to a certain point at the horizon
(Fluchtpunkt, sorry, don't know the english word)

just my humble opinion ...

best wishes,

Robert

The sky looks nice, but too dark. It reminds me of some old painting in
a dimly-lit museum more than an actual sky.

I think it looks great, but I'm not familiar with how the stones represent
an old technology. It looks something like an image from Pink Floyd's "Wish
You Were Here." The green water stains ground the stones better, and I
think the distant trees and interesting sky give it a very nice atmosphere.

I think the smooth water is fine, and I like the small leaves in the water.
Is that a fish I see? I certainly hope you submit a larger image to the
IRTC, as the details aren't very clear here.

The stones themselves are a bit monochromatic, but they do have a lot of
nice texture, so that may not be a problem. The stains look a little smooth
and monochromatic as well; you might try varying them a bit or even adding
a second, shorter, darker gradient layer just at the waterline.

Good luck with the competition!

The schizophrenic answer is that the "composition" was better in the other
one. What was changed?

Brrrr! It looks like a cold morning!

I like the feel of open space and the sky (Terragen does nice skies, doesn't
it). But the colors (particularly the sky) make me think very cold, so I
would expect mist rising on the water.

RG - it's so much easier to critique someone else than to do it yourself

Looks like the viewpoint is higher in the second image.
I also think the lower viewpoint looks better.

in terms of both camera and object positions absolutely nothing has been
changed. The only alterations I made to the second post is improved textures
and the new sky.
