This is the blue channel of the image with improved contrast.
I think it looks like concrete...
...and better then the color version.
The cool thing is that you can choose if you want the light from the top or
the bottom by selecting the blue or the red channel.

Looks like the rock in my fish tank at the beginning...Like part of a coral
reef...like the grayscale better for details..

I hate it when picture like this need so much time to render. They are so
beautiful!! If it weren't for the time those images need, I would order you
animate it..... :)

As Chris said, it looks like a coral reef :P
When I first looked at it, i thought 'that might make a nice depth map'. You
might want to check out Batronyx's SISRay image and see if you can do

Maybe I've mixed and poured too much concrete but this really looks like
splashing mortar or concrete had frozen in place and dried. I think it is
great. And yeah, I didn't think the color one was as good, or was just too
dark.

And an interesting thing to try for some effect.
