One more time...

I think I got it pretty good this time, still any comments/tips/criticisms
would be appreciated.

Cheers

Yes I like much better now. The texture adds a lot of interest.

I really do like this concept, but this picture still needs some serious
work. The bends are still too sharp on the inside and the neon effect is
not convinving.

Hate to be so harsh, but the idea is a very good one and deserves a
little more work.

I think it needs to be a catenary instead of a paraboloid.

Yes, but I don't think he coded it with a spline or mathematical
function. It looks like a csg merge of spheres and cylinders to me.
Adding torus segments at the bends would be a great improvement. I would
build this one with a mesh, but most prefer csg for short code.

Yes, it is CSG. When time permits I will possibly add tori at the bends.

I don't think at this time I would have the knowledge to model this
mathematically.
What tools would you use if you were going to build this using a mesh?

I'm not really familiar with mesh building tools. I just create my
meshes in PoV sdl. CSG is fine for this, however, as it provides a
clean, antiseptic look.
