Well, I've been playing with POV-Ray for about 2 days now, and it's alot of
fun.
Today I looked at the leg of a table in my house and thought "maybe I should
try out some SoR."
Comments would be cool, because I could use any tips I can get.
Thanks,
Optium

Welcome, the shape looks fine. Some tips:
Look into anti-aliasing, it removes the jaggies and makes the shape look
smoother. "5.2.6.4 Anti-Aliasing Options"
Regarding the texture, the wood patter is rather symmetrical, as if the
leg is made of the exact centre of a tree. Translate the wood pattern a
bit and maybe rotate it a bit.
Also play a bit with finish{} make it more shiny as if it is waxed or make
it duller as if it is rough wood. In the latter case you also may want to
add a normal to give the surface more structure.

A good start, apart from Ingos tips remember that the direction of the wood
grain on a table leg is along its length.

I'm still saying the same thing. Here's a tip: never look at the IRTC
winning pics, you'll just end up confused and envious :)

BIG change from the first one! Guess it feels good to you to see this kind
of improvement after just a few days :)

Ah, but I say to myself:
"These are the masters who have spent years and years honing their craft"
You efforts seriously undercut my self inflicted delusions.

Oh, I'm also wondering something...is there any way to declare Table_Leg,
then set say 4 of them up if I were making a table? I haven't really tried
yet, but I have a feeling it wouldn't work as the only way to move the legs
would be to change every point in the por for each leg...right? hmm, this is
making me very curious... :)
