Remember when I said I felt like designing my own lamp after seeing
Ross' one? Well, I did. I pulled together a lot of features of povray that
I've been working to understand better. I even used media in the
fluorescent ring light and the stained glass. I tried to balance form and
function, but I don't know how well it would function as a desk lamp. It
would probably be more at home in a nightclub or a museum. Can you figure
out what the different mechanisms on it do? It is actually the longest pure
CSG scene file I've made to date. So what do you think? Would you buy one?
Only 10000 pov dollars. :)

Heheh. Was there something about the design that struck you as
pretentious, Tim, or is the price tag just too high for you? Yeah, I guess
it is pretty bright and colorful, but I could use that here right now,
frankly.

Hey Ross,
Thanks for the reply and compliments. Yeah, I figured that someone
might see the levers on top as antennae of some sort. The functions I built
in are that when you pull up on the levers the lampshade glass raises, and
when you push down to horizontal the lampshade glass will be lowered all the
way. When you twist them towads the black sphere indicator it will dim the
light. I could make an animation of this, but it would take a very long
time. Actually, an animation could be made that allows for the
transformation of the whole lamp, growing in any direction, including a
closing of the lit part, because I based all of its dimensions on each
other.
