I finally finished rendering a large version of my wet object I posted a
while ago. The render was at 4000x3000, so I could make a poster out of it!
It's available here:
http://www.zazzle.com/posters/gallery/product.asp?product%5Fid=70016418
The render time was an estimated 200 hours, spread over several evenings and
weekends for about 3 weeks! I don't know why but there seemed to be some
sort of memory problem with pov: it would keep eating memory at about 4k a
second, until it ran out and had to start thrashing the hard drive for
virtual memory. This obviously killed the render time, which would otherwise
have probably been a much more reasonable 100 hours ;)
Anyway, here's a rescaled version for your thoughts and comments (and
desktops!).

Tek:
I like it! Do you get any of the money if someone buys the
poster from Zazzle?

Geez .. if I had a few hundred dollars to spare right now I'd get the huge
version of this for my office wall. Remind me of this in January and I'll get
the money together.

Woah! You serious? I didn't think the picture was -that- good!

Well, its not about it being "that good". What is important is that POVRAY is
now capable of producing real computer generated artwork. You have produced a
piece of artwork that is your creation. It is simplistic. It is clean and
effectively expresses the nature of computer generated artwork. That link
thing does not exist anywhere in reality. That table ( or whatever ) that is
sits on is not real nor are the water droplets on the links. It is not some
busy photo with piles of junk in it that screams technology at the top of its
lungs. Perfect for the office wall. People will ask me what it is and I will
not "That is a computer generated piece of artwork done wirh Pov-Ray." I
will say that it is a piece of computer artwork by a artist named Tek.

lol!
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of Tek that
thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning.
