Hi. I need help! (and not just in the psychological sense)

I'm working on an entry for the Frozen Moment round. Anyway, the problem (as
you've probably guessed from the attached pictures) is that I can't decide my
favourite layout! I've created the scene with basic objects (though I've done a
lot of work on the splashes and the falling water), and I've positioned them in
various arrangements that I'm considering, and I still can't decide!

My idea is to show a waterfall and a pouring drink arranged symmetrically so you
can see a lot of resemblence between the two, despite the fact that they're
radically different sizes. Basically just to add interest to the scene :) I've
achieved this using the simple illusion that big things look small when they're
far away! So the waterfall is much bigger than the drink (it will be more
obvious when I put some scenery between the two).


So which layout do you think I should use?
And obviously any other comments and suggestions you have would be really
helpful. :)

In my opinion, the 2halves.jpg picture has the most
going for it. Shows enough of each picture to establish
the connection you mentioned as wanting to attain. I
also like the 3quarter.jpg picture, but the overlapping of
the two objects seems to obscure. Maybe try moving
them apart in that one?

3quarter is my favorite, but maybe less overlapped.

BTW the doesn't liquid (milk or what? I would prefer any kind of alcohol!)
coming out of  a nozzle always have the same shape as the opening of that
nozzle?

I'd try to bring a bit more randomness in the splash where the liquid hits
the water surface. It looks a bit artificial/static.

Im leaning toward the 3quarter as well, if only I could see a bit more of
the waterfall (bottle covers it slightly)

Either flat-r or 3quarter.

By the way, I strongly suggest you spend some time pouring water into a
glass and examining the shape of the water being poured as it comes out of
the bottle. Maybe even get someone else to take some pictures as you do it.
Right now the water coming out of the bottle looks like something very
thick, like a glob of paint.

It's only milk because I've not worked on the materials yet, it's either gonna
be coke, orange juice, or something alcoholic :)

Liquid coming out of a bottle can't be the shape of the opening, because air has
to get back in to fill up the empty space. But, that said, it doesn't look right
yet, I'm thinking of flattening it a little so it looks like there's less water
coming out.

I'm now rendering a less overlapped version of 3quarters.

I think the problem is the surface is too flat. I'll probably use a heightfield
or isosurface for them.

Obviously this isn't finished yet so I'll tweak everything more once I've got
the right materials in there.

Yeah I agree. I think part of the problem is there's too much water for the
angle the bottle's at, once it gets to that angle it should be almost empty.
It's a julia fractal at the moment, but I think I may have to go for a more
conventional technique like blobs or something. I'll keep experimenting :)

Use 2halves.jpg.

But go and get a bottle or something and watch the water coming out.  Its
never that rounded or smooth.

Also the waterfal would tend to hug the rock unless you have a good
over-hang (unless its coming out of a pipe or something.  Also it'd be alot
flatter at the top as well.  Again looking at a couple of pictures of
waterfalls would be good.  :)

But otherwise I like it!

Suggestion for fluid... chocolate!   As in Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory... have an Oompahloompa (sp?) pouring the glass.
