Very nice. Is this done strictly with pigments and normals?

Ouch! The floor is sweet looking, but the render time must be a little
Hellish for an entire floor of tiles.

Just finished a 5250x3500 version. That one took 10 hours or so on a Celeron
400 with win2k.
I think that is reasonably fast, isn't it?

Definitely reasonable, but the picture only contains a few tiles. It would
be cool if you could make a pigment and/or mesh version for use when a
larger number of tiles is required.

Well.... my next floor's tiles are all different and "change" gradually into
other forms (Escher-like). And I want those tiles to have real edges.
I'll have to do something about the EXTREME amounts of ram the scene needs
when I have large amounts of tiles. I put that 5250x3500 version for sale at
zazzle.com:
http://www.zazzle.com/posters/gallery/product.asp?product%5Fid=70015718. So
that's my *first* poster.....yippie!! ;-)
