Inspired by the frozen moments irtc topic, I came up with this. I was
originally going to simulate the whole thing mathematically, but since I was
finding people that were working on it for their Ph.D theses, I decided just
to model it (wings3d). Much quicker, but consequently doesn't look quite
right.

This is my first image with photons, so I went nuts with them because I
think they look so cool--I know they aren't realistic in this picture.

Anyway, thought I would share and see what y'all think of it.

Jack

It looks natural except for the part where it meets the "floor." Or is it
supposed to be a separate substance than the floor? I can't really tell if
the floor is solid or liquid.

It's pretty, though.

hey guys

that's *very* nice, even without an exact mathematical basis.

Perhaps you should change the floor settings slightly, it looks a bit (only
a *little* bit *g*) boring compared to the water.

Love it!

Very nice. I'm not sure if the foreground moire-type pattern is due to
photons, but I can't see any other reason for it.

Have you seen the post by Giles Tran in p.b.s-f "Splash effect from Ms
Ehry" on 15 Jan 2000? I have a Ms Ehry link in my notes that may be
relevant:

Hmm... just tried it, that link seems to be dead now.

It would make a nice ashtray ;)
Seriously: I like the image, but for a splash it looks a bit too
frozen, perhaps because of the photons.

Thanks for your comments--I'm working on improving the image. Always good to
have fresh eyes look at it.

Will post the new version tomorrow.
