This scene is derived form my Elevado scene posted a few days ago. It
contains more than 15'000 mesh trees. The river terrain is a one of the
samples coming with World Machine. Except the number of trees this is a
quite simple scene. Nevertheless it took almost 30 hours to render on a 1.7
GHz PC with 500 MB of RAM.

Really nice! Love the colors. Clouds by the sun seem
a little flat to me. Love the water...

You are right, I'm not happy with the sky. After fiddling for 3 days with
different media settings I gave up. It's much easier (at least for me) to
achieve good results if the light is coming from the side. With a sunset
type of light I was not able to obtain better results so far. Using a
Terragen sky as background would be an easy way to overcome the problem ...

Stunning work again.
Somehow the sky feels a bit cold though

Love the trees, sun is good too, but the water is somewhat fake - it
just doesn't seem like the right type of waves (ripples) to me. The
clouds are a bit off, too, I think.

It's just that the trees put everything else to shame :)

In my most humble opinion, the problem with the sky is the dull reddish
color in the clouds. When there's red in a sunset, it's a brighter color
red, especially when the sun is still so high above the horizon.

Also, the water seems awfully choppy for such a wide, meandering river, with
no other hint of wind. (Actually, the presence of the haze would indicate
little or no wind at all...)

With that said, I would like to mention that this is a stunning work! This
must be a magical forest...

Dave Blandston
