So would using a filter done in POV on a POV image, be allowed in the IRTC?

I guess so. Its not post-processing of a photo or
such. And if you look at some animations sent
to the IRTC, I think its John VanSickle who creates
artful fades between two scenes using image-maps
applied onto pigments, so...
I guess the judges will decide, and in this case, I'd
say, in your favor. As long as the original image is
truly made with POV and you hand the scene-file
for that as well (though the last part was written with
fellow POVers in mind who like to dissect some code).
Oh, and I guess this belongs into irtc.stills.

Tim

Animations have separated rules about post-processing. You can't compare it.

In addition to fades and wipes, I also use masking to create other
effects.
"Showbots" used a mask to combine a 320x240 frame with a 40x30 frame
to create the blocky censoring. My current entry uses a mask to
combine two scenes, with two different backgrounds, to create the
warp gate.
The pigment_pattern in v3.5 makes this very easy.

John

Technically, yes...it is still produced by raytracing, though some
people might consider it an abuse of the rules.
I think it fits the "spirit" of the rules too...in my opinion, only hand
editing and processed photos should be forbidden. The "no post
processing" rule seems to be to avoid drawings and photographs being
entered. The editing should be something objectively reproduceable, with
a script or some other method. I don't make the IRTC rules though, this
is just how I'd interpret them.
