This is the final version of my landscape project (not meant for the current
IRTC round because it's not a real place).
I replaced the mesh rock with an isosurface rock (thanks to Slime and Mick
Hazelgrove for their very helpfull suggestions to the WIP post of this). The
trees are modified oak trees from Stephen Dartnall's Forester Arboretrum.
The drawback of the combination of isosurface rock, media sky and radiosity
is rendering time: the scene took allmost 40 hours to render at 1024x768 on
my 1.7 GHz P4. Hope it was worth the electricity costs ...
Regards, Christoph

Beautiful. Really excellent. Two things that I don't like are:

1. too many birds that are too tiny to see. I think it would be more
effective to just have the single, closest bird and remove the others.
2. It's hard to tell how high the rock is or how far down it goes. This
might not be fixable, but if its only supposed to be about 5 tree heights
tall, then consider making the tops of some trees visible around its base.

How many objects make up those trees? And I'd love to see the source for the
sky. The rock texture is great, too.

Well I love the vegetation and the horizon but I'm not particularly fond of
the woman (and no, it's not her overly large bust bothering me :) )

A very warm image. I don't know if your planning to change it anymore but
you could add a few taller trees to spice up the left side of the image

I want the sky, the birds are too randomly distributed...ever see a
few thousand vultures circling over somthing in the distance? That's
an impressive sight, and might be something to try here...

I think the birds are perfect this way. I've seen birds doing exactly this
just before the weather is going to change or at the beginning of the
evening. I don't like the woman. Maybe I've seen too many Poser women
lately at this group :) What about putting an old bearded man with a hat on
top of the rock?

Great image. I'd change the poser woman with a bear or a wolf
(you can find free models at renderosity, at least a morph to change
the poser dog into a wolf and image maps), but if you like it that way,
it's OK.

That was optional, this is mandatory: Send it to the IRTC ;-)

Bye

Hi,
great picture. I'm interested by the isosurface rock.
I've done some trials, but with poor results for both shape and texture.

What is this arboretum?
