Tracing for 16 hours now (of which at least 10
were set at "Higher Priority", at most 3 at "Lowest"
while playing a game), and only got this far:
155 lines of 768. Well.

Patience.

Didn't I tell you, Xplo Eristotle? :-)

It's a great start though. Can't wait to see the rest as I've been looking
for a new background

I suggest you use media sampling method 1, since you hardly need any
accuracy at all with all the focal blur. (Like, you can produce an extremely
grainy media effect, since the focal blur is going to blur it all into a
better looking solid color.)

Maybe split the media up into a few sections, one of which covers the area
in focus, and give that one better sampling parameters than the others.

Use Theo's SMPOV utility and convince some folks
from the newsgroups to contribute their CPU for a weekend.
