Hi,
Years ago I created a office corner scene inspired by a real table in a
corner of my office at the university (see the old image at
http://www.rene-schwietzke.de/povray-gallery.html, at the bottom of the
page). After I saw the coffee-mug picture by TinCanMan, I decide to redesign
the scene.
The scene uses image maps for the coffee and cream packages. My mug texture
is a slightly modified version of TinCanMan's mug texture. An area light is
placed in a far distance and some small boxes are trying to simulate a
blind, you can see the reflections on the cups. The light source has the
color white * 3, to make it really bright, nearly glaring (is this the right
word?). The scene was rendered with Radiosity_Final settings from
rad_defs.inc and anti-alias 0.3.
Enjoy! Looking forward to your comments.
Bye,
Rene

In general it's better, but I like much more the light placement and the
nice shadows of the blind on the old image. Sorry... :)

Don't say sorry! I asked for comments and now I have to live with... ;-)
I am not totally satisfied with light and shadows too, therefore I am going
to change shadow intensity and light placement.
Thanks,
Rene

Hello!
Well, from my POV [point of view ;)], I prefer the coffee mugs from your old
render. Same goes for the lights.
Just like you, I am working with an old source that I have done with POV 1.0.
I was converting it to POV 3.5, but during the conversion, I made a lot a
change. I'll the original vs the new one very soon. It'll be you turn to give
you POV!!
Ciao!
Mart

BTW: Why do you like to old mugs more? Texture? Shape?
I thought about putting some images on the new mugs. It seems, that everyone
prefers colorful mugs.

Hi,
This is an update. I just changed the light and blind settings to have more
shadow.
