Hi,
Thank you for all suggestions of my last posting. I tried to incorporate
most of them. The result is a new texture demonstration scene, split up into
two scenes (radiosity, scaling). Additionally I am going to create a
rotation test scene and a pure texture demo (just a nice scene to get an
overall impression).
The new radiosity test scene features three complex objects with colored
walls behind them. These walls have pigments similar to pigments in the
Cornell scene. This should hopefully show the interaction of the "texture
under test" with the walls.
The cone row tries to show the interaction of cone color and "texture under
test" (reversed wall test).
The scaling test shows three rows with scaling factor .25, .5, 1, 2 and 4.
Row one: spheres, row two: boxes, row three: hemispheres (looking at slice
plane).
What do you think? Does it work for you?
Bye,
Rene
P.S. Rotation and general scene will follow!

The boxes and the hemispheres show nearly the same appearance of the
texture (flat side). Maybe it's better if the boxes show one edge toward
the camera than a flat side.
So long,
Bonsai

I wonder if the corrugation on the columns detracts from understanding the
texture. What is its value add?

Hi,
this will be part of the rotation scene. This scene just shows a plain
texture, to get its structure, turbulence and color map.

Hi,
The corrugation is part of the complex object. Details of the texture can be
seen on the other image. BTW, I like the column therefore I would like to
keep the corrugation ;-)

Hi,
here we go, a further improved texture radiosity demo scene. Now cylinders
are wrapping the columns and therefore, depending on the texture and
radiosity settings, the typical radiosity effect can be seen. Same for the
two spheres in front.
Does anyone has good radiosity settings? I used the settings of cornell.pov.
Maybe other settings could emphasize the radiosity effect more. Any
suggestions?
Bye,
Rene

Have you tried raddef.inc include file ?
> Any suggestions?
Put sphere with texture in front between other spheres and put textured povray
logo instead of sphere above column.

Hi,
The updated texture demonstration scenes for scaling and rotation.
Scaling on each row: .25, .5, 1, 2, 4
Rotation on each row: none, x*90, y*90, z*90, x*180
Bye,
Rene
