Hey, folks:

I was trying out the new internal bitmap functionality
in POV 3.5 earlier.  The attached file is simply the
waves pattern used as a function inside a height_field.
I thought it looked pretty neat, even though there was
not much to it SDL-wise.  I used an intense sort
of color scheme similar to earlier posts.

The interesting thing about this is, that if you phase the
waves pattern, you get a nice, water-like effect with
true "displacement" mapping!

Is this feature suitable for transparent things, such as liquids?
I say this, because it appears to differ from height_fields that
are based on "real" bitmaps -- that is, the object isn't solid
along the y axis in the same sort of way.

The height field is exactly the same, the image is just generated 
internally from a function instead of read from a file.

Don't know why I was thinking that it worked the other way. :)
Let's see if I can get some realistic working water out of it ...
