A progress picture of my work on "The Little Street".

The house contains now most structural elements, although some works
remains. In the background some additional houses have to be added. The
"duplicate" house at the left will later be replaced by another house.
On the foreground some street elements will be added.
On texturing and lighting also work have to be done. Most of the textures
now are quickly made image_map textures.

Feel free to comment.

Well well, you need :
- 2 children playing on the sidewalk below the window right of the small
door (a boy in brown clothes and a girl in a yellow dress)
- a woman doing some needlework on the threshold of the house with the large
door
- another woman washing (?) something in the alley visible beyond the small
open door
- a cloudy sky (radiosity should be perfect on this one)
- shouldn't the central shutters be a little bit more bluish ?

Good work so far, I have been thinking of doing this one for a while but
never got it started.

;-)

... and the top of the door beside the alley should be round.

I guess there is still a lot of work to do but it does look very nice
so far.

Yes, I know. There are still a lot of details to fill in, but hey, I just
started yesterday with this model ;)

Ah, another vermeer fan.

http://www.kfki.hu/~arthp/html/v/vermeer/02a/07stree.html.

The windows have some little gothic arches and there are brick arches above
the windows.

the best for this job.

It looks very promising in this early state, good work.

Thank you! I was wondering why everybody was commenting like they knew,
what the scene should look like.

Indeed! I'm ashamed to say that I did not recognize the title or the image
either. In penance, I plan to spend the day viewing Low Countries paintings
in the local museum ... Excellent modelling job so far. :)

I found some detailed additional information on the construction of the
house, including maps of the area where the house is assumed to be located:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kalden/verm/stra/Stra-Hoofd-FN.htm (in Dutch)

A shorter version in English can be found here:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kalden/verm/stra/Stra-Hoofd-FE.htm

I think this will help the modeling.

Updated model (I included the original as well in the jpg for comparison).

Still a lot of work to do on the details.
