...surfer.
ahem, just kidding 'cause it seems that everybody was talking about
blurred metallic reflection lately. It is just my first experiment to fake
something_that_looks_a_little_like_motion_blur.
It does not look as I have expected and maybe I should have tried
something simple (like a sphere over checkered plane?) first.
But it's a long time since I was waiting for a chance to create an image
with the Silver Surfer.
Notes:
The stars are 100000 random placed and colored spheres.
Saturn is made with an image map and scattering media.
The ring system are some disks textured as described here:
http://www.mmedia.is/~bjj/data/saturn/rings.html
The Silver Surfer is a poser model from the 3D Comic Collective.
*blurring* was done by using multiple copies of the object with transmit
set to 0.98 and still with some specular highlight.
I think this faked motion blur could be improved and made much better
looking - but yesterday I started to play Morrowind so I guess you can
forget me for the next four weeks.
so long

Nice image, but... You do know this kind of motion blur is very unrealistic,
right?
anyway, I very much like the glowing eyes :)

Nice image, i have an idea about the modtion blur, could it look better
when you decrease the transmit-value when you get nearer to the object?
i never tried.. just an idea
