I still have a ways to go, but I am making slow progress on the model. The
sea and sky are actually a mistake, but I like the way they look. I have
spent many a night at sea, when I couldn't tell where the sea ended and the
sky began.

Criticism, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Tim

I like the ship! It's very well done. I just think it's a bit too dark to
see and appriciate the details. If you want it to be "night" then maybe the
sail is too bright. I also wonder why you call it "the dog watch"?

But please keep us updated. ;o)

I kind of wondered the same thing... when I was in the Navy, the dog
watch was the evening watch, about the time dinner was served... usually
before sunset.

Still, nice image, though I agree that the sail is too bright.

I agree that this is a dark image. I have put so much effort into modelling
the ship, that I will use it in a series of images. On this image I wanted
to capture the look of the full moon on the sails. You may be right though,
the light may be too bright.

A Dog Watch? A dog watch is a shortened watch in the middle of the night.
For instance, instead of standing watch from midnight to 4 AM, a dog watch
will be from midnight to 2 AM followed by a second dog watch from 2 AM to 4
AM. This allows everyone to get a little more sleep.
