Hi,
well, I've never tried to render Posette's
face so close. And as Tim Cook mentioned
the eyes are a problem. The small sparkle
in her eyes is indeed the reflection of the
light source and not faked (painted) but
it does not look very real.
Maybe there is only some surrounding
needed, that can be reflected in her eyes?
I don't know, but will work on this.
Her hair and the her eye lashes are done
in the same way as the grille for my
Marshall speaker cabinet. So the highlight
you can see on her hair is also not faked
(as usually done with the Poser hair -
where highlights are simply painted).
suggestions?

Wow, now that's some nice skin texturing. The hair is a bit blurry to me,
and of course the angular edges of the mesh along top of it is a bit
distracting. Great Poser thing though, I seldom see them and this one is
really... real. I think you could be right about the need for reflection of
the surrounding in those eyes. Is Poser stuff as good as this now? I didn't
realize such realism could be accomplished now. That nose and mouth are
impossible for me to distinguish from reality, except that I tend to think
it all looks pieced together from other faces. Least of all things to see as
realism in rendering has got to be living things, esp. people. This has a
nice life-likeness, ignoring the eyes just a little.
Speaking or speaker grill... you Marshall model looks very good too. Without
checking a photo of one anyway. I noticed I could see the speakers better as
I scrolled the message window. It's like moving while looking past screen
mesh in reality. The mesh blurs and the objects beyond don't blur (as much).

So was this a poser model exported to POV and rendered using the techniques
you recommended to me with the pigment_pattern?
Robert.

Excellent image, very impressive.
The eyes do look a bit like those of a mannequin. A wet look to the eyes
(reflections?) might give her a more realistic appearance. Also, it may
just be the angle, but the top eyelashes aren't very noticeable. The tear
duct area may need a glint of reflection on them as well.
Good work!

Oops, I did forget to give some credits:
The hair mesh and transparency map was created
by Mr. Kozaburo and can be found at
www.digitalbabes2.com
The cheongsam dress and the flower texture is
from Jim Burton but I do not remember where
I have found them. Sorry.
Both items are free.

Wonderful! A real beauty. The best I've seen from Poser.
