How about this I'm not too happy yet, have to toy around
with the colors a little more, but some comments are always
helpful, especially from people who have some more insight...

Wow... Not only a quick reply, but a very astonishing one...
I didn't think I could make it THAT fast... :-)

I'm toying around at the moment, and it seems, I'm just
to stuck with the way I've moved up till this picture, so
I'll probably just do some fine-tuning tweaks...

Thank very very much for the reply!

In my opinion this is a MAJOR improvement and the image goes directly to my
personal hall of fame! It's probably further and further away from your
original idea, but these colors are beautiful. The iglo makes more sense
now, and is clearer. The sky and sun is great.

It's not exactly like anything I've seen before. The mountains doesn't look
like typical icebergs. Nothing is flat either, as I imagine large flat areas
from the poles. Though I don't have reference pictures right here.

I would keep this setup in the records, in any case.. I don't know how to
make it more 'lonely' if that's still important. Maybe some snow, blowing in
the foreground but that's a major project as well.

Regards,
Hugo

Just gorgeous!

The media, and the lighting look perfect. However, I don't think polar
regions get these kinds of clouds very often as they are usually
associated with warm humid weather.

I also think the little hills should be smaller, i.e. just snowbanks.
Add a distant mountain range in the background to one side, and a flat
expanse of frozen sea to the other, and you have the perfect pic, imho.

Thank you very much!

Regarding the clouds: I kinda like them, and, though its
probably very rare that they occur there, its just rare, not
impossible... :-) (Just trying to argument why I wanna keep
them...)

Regarding the mountains and the ocean...
Nice idea, problem is, the scene has developed far
from what it was meant to be, so the script isn't
really supportive for distant mountain ranges or
a water-plane... I fiddling about to an extent where
I *know* that the mountains are just faked in size
and the water is actually just a box...

Nah. That's not my style. But perhaps someone else
will try, using isosurfaces for the landscape (cause I think
they are more suited for jaggy icerocks...)

Well, the loneliness topic for this image was lost a
loooong time ago, not that it matters when the image
is nice...
As for the landscape: many have said it wasn't very
realistic, but perhaps I'll try your idea of making them less
high. I'll see, but I'm pretty content with it right now...
Finally. ;-)

Very col pic, but the snow and ice should be much brighter, unless of course
you are keeping it dark for a reason. Even in twilight the snow should look
pretty white. I love your landscape, though
