Just a slightly better landscape-type perspective...

what did You use ? sky is made from media, and scene uses radiosity ?

The clouds is made with scattering media filled in a
hemispheric container. If you take a look at my post on
the 1st of August, you'll find the code-snippet of the
clouds somewhere...

No radiosity. A plain lightsource behind the cloud-hemisphere,
a cone pointing from the light to camera, not textured,
but again, filled with scattering media to achieve that nice
sun-effect-

The soft glow on the iglu as well as the soft highlights on the
hills are also media (for the hills, again scattering, the iglu
glows with emission).

Any questions remaining regarding the media?

You know what? With that sky, these colors and this landscape, all it
needs is a shed and a wind trap. OK, maybe a harvester or an orni :)

Orni? Whats an orni?

And what kind of wind trap do you mean?

But I agree, the lighting of the scene could easily be
used for other styles of images, not just winter-like...

Thanks for your comment!

One that gathers moisture from the atmosphere of Arrakis.

Ooooh, now I get it!

Perhaps that could work, but I like to keep my artwork
"untainted" by influences like games/copyrighted stuff...

Although I've modelled a crude Space Marine from
Starcraft some time ago... That game just was and is
awesome!

Well. Getting off-topic.

Tim

Very nice when the resolution is fairly high, as here. But I was wondering,
with this kind of landscape - somehow there is a lot of ground fog -
shouldn't there be a more foggy horisont? The line between earth and sky is
so sharp...?

Regards,
Hugo

There is no fog on the heightfield. Its just that the setting
sun color the white snow, along with the obscuring clouds
and all, it just looks foggy, though it isn't...

Maybe I'll try adding some fog, at least for the horizon,
to see what it does to the mood...

Tim
