Hi All
Barbed wire by Jerry Anning. Landscape mixture Of HFs and ridged_mfs, Clouds are
media, icicles are meshes, snow blobs in the style
of Tom Melly (you gave me the clue as to how to use blobs in loops via a macro). Bird
made in Hammapatch, texture maps thanks to UV
mapper, CorelPaint and the RSPB magazine.
Where to now...
Mick

Stunning! I like the mood!
IMHO the cliff in the back left looks a bit steep compared to the others..?
What about turning the bird a bit, either one way so that you either can see
the other eye, or the other way to make the contour more interesting? And
wouldn't the snow rather gather at the spikes-things on the wire, rather on
the wire itself, which is far thinner? Looks great when you can see the
spikes though.. Just a thought :)
I really like it!

The clouds are great as is the bird and the post it's sitting on. Somehow
the icicles and little blobs of snow on the barbed wire don't convince and
overall the snow seems to be too cyan (hope that's the right colour) in my
eyes. Could be from radiosity if it's used.

Amazing. I like it even more that it doesn't exactly look like a photograph
but some kind of painting or video screen.
I'll give you an A+ *and* say that the "style" of the clouds isn't exactly
the same as the rest of the scene.

Very nice picture. The clouds seem a little out of scale (too large) to me.
Otherwise very, very nice.--

Great picture, Mick! Again and again...
I have nothing to criticize. I do have a general suggestion, though -
could you try to increase dramatism? Same setup, different lighting.
Give the clouds a more dramatic look - increase their contrast, add
more light in places (as if lit by the storm and/or the sun behind the
mountains). Drown the distant mountains in deeper shadow. Give the
bird its moment of fame - a mild spotlight would do it.
It might spoil your initial idea completely, because that's how I
would make the picture if I could - and I can't - and it's your
picture and your artistic vision that counts.
I will try to illustrate what I mean later, and will try not to
bastardize your art too much.
Once again, great picture!

To be quite honest, I preferred the previous version. The barbed wire draws
attention
away from the bird and the landscape has lost it's otherworldly 'gold and
crystal' look
that is had before.
That said, it's still a stunning picture.

Excellent!
I don't know if this will be a useful suggestion... but you could try
lowering your camera a little (down by about the distance between the two
horizontal fence wires, or perhaps even more) and raising your look_at
position. I think it will balance the image a little better, but that's
just me... give it a go if you like and see if you like the result.
*shrugs*
Overall, very nice modelling and texturing, it's quite impressive.
Lance.
