Hi,

Attached is my first try with pov. Took about 25hrs to render on a Siemens
Fujitsu 1 GHz. Used lensflare for my firework macro's. Trees are from the
observatory I found in IRTC.

First try? I don't believe you :)
I suppose you've done some modelling before in your life?

Woah! Siemens makes computer processors (i have a slight problem with Siemens
company)???? No wonder it took 25 hours all that wonderful detail!
beautiful image!

The whole thing is built up with macros that I developed separately.
banisters, staircase, fountain, firework, dome, baseblock. Took me several
weeks of experimenting
So it's not the first image i do with pov, but it is the first complete
scene I made with it, believe it or not.

No, but I have a degree in computer science so programming & geometry is a
piece of cake for me. Played a few hours with bryce3d before and got fed up
with it. I prefer pov programming gives you much more control over the pic.
What I didn't figure out yet it the whole photons & radiosity stuff. I used
standard textures for the picture. Guess it could still be improved. Tried
radiosity but after 25 hrs the picture wasn't even half completed. Think
it's because of the firework that contains a lot of elements. Photons
probably would make the reflection of the water probably more realistic

They make excellent PC's. The pic was rendered on a lifebook E6646 series
Siemens Fujitsu. It has an intel pentium 3 mobile inside running at 1066Mhz.

Siemens make no processors, only complete computers. Siemens' daughter
Infenion makes processors and RAMs. so where is your problem at Siemens?

As a programmer you'll be thrilled when the source code of the new POV-Ray
3.5 has been released.

And I think you're absolutely going to the right direction.
