Some people say, they make a scene in 30 minutes and let POV render it for
days. Well, I usually tweak my scenes for days and POV rendered this in 5
and a half minute. (Amd 1 ghz)
But don't give me too much credit here: The clouds are borrowed from Gilles
Tran, the sun flare by Chris Colefax, and the landscape from WorldMachine
(freeware). The current texture of the heightfield is simple, but has been
looking worse.
The water is by me, and can be nicely animated.
Well..
Regards,
Hugo

How exactly are those clouds made, again?

nice effect, I like the clouds most - where can I find more about
makingthem ?
are they an image_map or media ?

Nice!
But the clouds look like they are not illuminated by the sun but by some
other light_source.

Very nice indeed. Well-tweaked!

They are real objects with a tricky texture. All honor goes to Gilles.
Here's the code:

They are not illuminated at all, the highlights are part of the texture.
They all point to the right, that's why they don't take the sun into
consideration. The code could develop in this aspect.

Thanks! Everything except the water is borrowed "plug-ins", and the
heightfield isn't that good, but since it renders in 5 minutes I think it's
useful in animation, and shows that POV can also do nice things fast.

Ah, very nice indeed!
I like the texture you used for the terrain, and the lighting too (you used at least
two lightsources didn't you). Must be some volcanic island.
What's that little pink glow? Maybe it's part of the lens flare?
Would make it into a nice wallpaper.

Wow, a compliment from you I didn't expect. ;o) Your pictures are much
better. Yes, there are two light sources. I wanted to try Samuel Benges idea
to fake the skylight, but the blue light isn't placed optimally I think.
Yes, the pink glow is the lens flare. I should also improve the transition
between the water and the rocks.
Maybe I'll try an animation too...
Thanks,
Hugo

I live in "limestone" country, about half-mile/700m from coast. This
could be what I see at sea-level with sea-weed, or on higher ground
with short grass.
My 2 complaints: I don't like the light source behind the camera, and
agree with Simon re clouds. Could each cloud be rotated to point to
the horizon below the sun?

I really like the heightfield, it's just perfect. It looks like rocks
poking through sand or dirt.
Where did you get the program that made this height field? (I guess I'll go
googling ... <G>)
