Hi all.
I'm working in a new image for the IRTC and I have finished modelling a
Telephone box. Still there is no telephone (I'll use hamapatch and CSG for
that), but I think the Telephone box itself it's done. Untill now it's all
CSG. Still have to work in textures (any advice in "dirty textures" is
welcome).
Any comments, suggestions....

Very nice! I remembers me about "La Cabina" from Mercero...

You can use the clasical dirty effect with gradient y, or even better
with the trick from Gilles: function(x,y,z){min(1,max(y,0))}

It tries to be the same sort of telephone box as the one in "La Cabina".

changed them for "opened telephone boxes"

Could you explain in detail the trick from Gilles, or is it in his
website?.

Thanks

That is one of the things I'm not sure of, even though I fear you are
right.
If there was a telephone box like this in RL (I mean an old TB, now
they are all changed with an open and modern design)
I could check it...

Anyway I'll try to make it smaller, and let's see what happens...

Thank you Rick.

It consist on simply using this function instead "gradient y", because
it's like the bottom half of a gradient y, and this avoids the upper part
of the gradient showing on the top of the object. Very useful...

This is a good model so far. It reminds me of a Spanish film I saw once
where they were using telephone boxes to trap people, so when someone went
into the phone box the door worl lock and the person couldn't get out, a
truck would come along and pick the telephone box up and take it through the
city to a warehouse where there were rows of phone boxes with people in them
all banging on the glass trying to get out.

Thank you for your comments. The movie you talk about, as Jaime said, was
called "La Cabina" ("the telephone box") and was done by Antonio Mercero
long ago (I remember I was a child when I saw it, and I had, at least, 2
weeks
of nightmares because it really impressed me).
Those kind of telephone boxes were the standard in Spain not so long ago,
but now it seems they have all disapear.

Yes I answered before reading any other comments. I didn't think anyone
would remember it, as it was a short film from long ago and if I rememnber
correctly there was no speach in the film, but this is getting off topic
now.
