Hi,
I was interested in the benchmark scene, so I did a render with 1152x864
resolution.
Because of the big format I kicked the quality somewhat higher:
radiosity: count 300 (was 80)
recursion_limit 3 (was 1)
photons: spacing 0.002 (was 0.007)
It took my PIII 450 MHz 44h 32m in the background. In the beginning (first
30%)
SETI was running too!
If anyone is interested, the PNG is much better, but it is 1.48 MB.
I don't know if it is possible to attach such a big file, but I can always
try it.
Greetings,
Jaap Frank

You dare to cut off my scene? ;-)
There is something wrong with the photons, they don't show up where they
should (i.e. in the metal ring)
Otherwise it looks good.

Sorry for that, but a very small render gave the impression that it just
fitted.
I started late in the evening and the following morning I saw the missing
top.
I good not bring myself to start again.

I haven't played with photons much yet, but I expected more from it either.
Maybe the settings are not optimal or the pass_through doesn't work good?
All I changed was the photon_spacing from 0.007 to 0.002.
Any hints about that (for a correct render WITH top)?

Make sure you use version 1.02 of the benchmark scene, some earlier
version had the 'pass_through' missing for the clouds.
Last time i checked the scene photons worked. You should see the effect
quite clearly inside the metal ring.

In approximately an hour the correct render with photons and the top of
the 'flask' is ready. It took nearly 3 days crawling over the pixels!
