With a little bit of luck, the ol' NCC-1701 might miss that
pale tan rock in its path that's just about as tall as it...
(or could be, given the perspective and lack of other visual
cues)

Having played some with modeling the NCC-1701, I am inclned
to ask which nacelle type you used. Three were used during
the 3 year run of TOS :PB31, PB32, and PB47.

The nacelles are modeled after the plastic model kit I bought when I was a
kid. I'm still not done though, there are some details I left off the
nacelles. and I need more windows in the "neck" and engineering sections.
Hey, here's a question:
how would I apply text to the top of the saucer without applying it to
the bottom?

Make an extruded text object of less thickness than the saucer.
If the text is curved, make an object for each character.
OR.
Make a box with texture map of the text, of less thickness than
the saucer.
Raise both of these objects above the plane of the saucer a very
tiny amount.

From the end it looks like the last of the nacells used in
the series: PB47. That is a good side view, by the way.
