Hi there ! This is my first image posted to that group. I am not very
familiar with newsgroups (and that's being far from reality...), so I
hope everything will work out fine. OK, here is one of my first pics
(might be the fifth or sixth though) using POV. That's only simple
primitives (torus, plane, boxes, blobs) except for the ducks beaks and
legs. Lighting is very basic and there is no radiosity as I still don't
quite understand how it works. Comments and critics appreciated !

Try posting smaller images in the future. Personally, I don't mind as
I'm on cable, but some of the people in the slow-lane might.

Very nice. Technically simple, yet efficient. On the creative side, I
don't know what you're smoking, but whatever it is, don't stop.

Good good good! Go on rendering and posting things! (Many people on this
newsgroups prefer smaller images and plain text postings though.)

Welcome here, for the future you should adjust your newsreader to produce
plain text messages instead of HTML.
The image looks nice, much better than my first pictures with POV. I
would probably use a less grainy normal for the ground.

Well, sorry for the html format and the size of the image. The beak and leg
were done using Hamapatch, a good amount of patience, and some head
scratching to understand why patches were disappearing strangely. They are
actually quite simple objects once you've made them. I've tried to convert
these bezier patches to meshes, to keep memory requirements down, but didn't
succed.
I wanted to get a kind of wet effect on the plane (droplets). Somehow,
reflections are probably a bit too blurred by the plane normals. By the way,
thanks Christoph for the great radiosity tutorial on your web site !

i personally really liked the surface of the ground. it did kind of look
wet. good work overall.
