Hi all... Just playing around again... I wanted to create an image of
marbles, like the kind you play with as a kid.  Heres me best attempt, but
I'm not sure how to do the "colored ribbons" that I seem to remember in the
center.  I did my best fake at it. :)

Let me know what you think..

Standard textures and materials are only applied to the surface of objects.
In order to create those ribbon patterns you are talking about you would
either need to use media or use another object within the marble.  I would
suggest the latter (object in the marble) and try to create a suitable
isosurface.  That's about the extent of the help I can give for now.  I'm
sure someone else can help you with isosurfaces or whatever route you decide
to take.

TinCanMan is right, IMHO. About seven years ago I
made some "cat eye" marbles by putting colored glass
shapes in side a clear glass sphere. I would think the
marbled effect you are going for would be accomplished
by blobs or isosurface functions of varying tranparency.
