its not a SOR, it's a:
#declare absolut =
lathe {
cubic_spline

<0,0>
<0.000000,0.007769>,// base corner
<0.124383,0.007769>,// base corner
<0.177689,0.023307>,
<0.177689,0.54>,// beggining of closure
<0.149920,0.69>,
<0.084,0.74756>,
<0.08,0.74756>,
<0.076,0.7685>, // neck
<0.053,0.794>,
<0.053,0.94>,
<0.069,0.95>, // cap
<0.068,0.998>,

In my experience, the sturmian rootsolver rarely solves the problem, though
it helps a little sometimes. I don't know if the code is supposed to be
improved in Pov3.5.. If you'd like to have bug-free lathes, perhaps you
could use Ingo's mesh macros (meshes render very quickly you know) or an
isosurface (could be slow).
Otherwise try another camera location.. I do wonder, why these errors can't
easily be prevented, however..

Hugo

You know the requirements for a bug report?
If you had followed them you would probably have recognized this is just a
problem of your scene.

would you care to enlighten me?
[why do you assume i intentionally don't follow requirements for bug reports
when i never even knew there was such a thing?]

Try creating a minimal test scene with only the single lathe object and
see if it shows this 'bug'.

Since you have downloaded the beta you have read the welcome message to
the beta-test group (at least you should have):
news://news.povray.org/3B94E1CF.7498B010%40pacbell.net
which states the requirememts for a bug report.

sorry, my mistake, no bug.
Thank you chris, without trying out a minimal scene i would not have figured
this is a CSG mistake...
