Here is something I cooked up this afternoon. Questions, comments?

I like it. It's cool the way the distortion of the pot goes along with the
lines on the wall. How did you do the wall?

If you mean the maze-like pattern, it's a plane with a special pigment:

#declare mazish=
  function{pigment{cells
   pigment_map{
    [.5 function{x} color_map{[.5 rgb 1][.5 rgb 0]}]
    [.5 function{y} color_map{[.5 rgb 1][.5 rgb 0]}]
   }
  }
}

plane{z,0
  pigment{function{mazish(x,y*(x+10)/8+x/8,z).grey}
    color_map{[.5 rgbf<1 1 1 .5>][.5 rgbf 1]}
  }
}

Is the pot an isosurface? If it isn't, could it be done so? And how are the
plants done?

What do you mean, "cooked up this afternoon"? How could you make this in
an afternoon!?

Very nice composition.

I recognize some graininess i remember from previous scenes from you. I
guess you are using multiple area lights for lighting?

Way cool! Especially lighting is very realistic, and there is a nice
dynamic feeling. On the other hand, I do not like the wall so much.

Yes, the pot an isosurface. The scene started as an exercise in
distorting functions.
