( Let's try this again, see if the pic will come through this time)
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to wait to do my first image post with something good..but this
is all I Got now..
I didn't do the "cliche" ball posts or anything like that.. I was
watching my daughter color one day and though.. I Bet I could do one of
those crayons.
There are a few things missing fromt the crayon, I know.
Ie: The black circle behind "crayola" and the Wavy Border at the top and
bottom.
But I'm a newbie with Pov still.. I know a few things, but not alot, so this
was the best I could do wiht my limited knowledge....
Comments would be appreciated..

Well, radiosity probably isn't doing too much, since you have only a single
concave object.
The flaws I see are that the paper needs to be a separate object (give it
some thickness) and a lot less shiney. Give both the paper and the crayon a
small normal map.

An image_map might be the way to go there. Even pov 'purists' use image_maps :)

nonono!
You do have to get thru reflective ball upon checkered plane! ;-)
Well be carefull with yourself, you show already the YKYBRTTL symptoms as
"hey nice object, how could I render it".
I agree with other replies: need a separate paper with a bitmap, a
surrounding (why not a reflective ball upon... nooo nooo don't slap meee
noo)
But a nice 1st post pict :-)

The label is another object it's an open cylinder. :)
I will play with the normal map and see what I Get.. yeah radiosity made it
brigther.. I Rendered it with it just to see if there was a difference.. :)

As stated, the paper is seperate, it's just "close" to the crayon.. A ball
huh.. Hrmmmmmm..
Yes I have the YKYBRTTL Syndrome.. :) I know.. Everything I See I say... I
could model that.. But then say... How would I model that..
And don't get around too it..

I don't know Maps well enough..so I kinda used one out of the DOC Tutorial
and modified it to look okay..
Added a normal map and some turbulence to the paper..
Took out the RAdiosity and it put the Darkness back to where I remember it..
And I added something just for Marc.. ;)
I originall rotated the camera, so that's why the plane is funny.. :) But I
ThoughtI Would make you all dizzy.. :)

Well okay..
Here it is.. my 3rd incarnation of this... Of course.. Now I used an image
map ( that I made myself ) on the label, played with the normal map a little
.. but everything else is the same...
